  • Line6 flextone II HD output section

Saw one of these waiting for the garbage man just down the block earlier today, so I walked down and snagged it. I hate the digital garbage, but I figger'd I could repair it and flip it for a few bucks.

It has borked output sections (dc on the output) but the digital crap works as verified thru the fx send. I pulled one output, yanked the board off it to check the FETs, which seemed ok. Are these worth screwing with? I've seen them with the SMT stuff all blown to shit, but these don't have signs of catastrophic failure. Seems more like a driver issue.

Any thoughts on what to look for? I won't even ask about a schematic....they're tight about that for some reason.....

Well I decided to fuss with one of these output boards for a bit today. Found a couple bad 2n5551 transistors. Robbed the good ones from the other board to replace the bad ones, bah. Still got DC at the output, but not near as much....around 22v IIRC. These things are really shit quality....the case of these 5551s melted when the iron brushed against 'em. No mfgr mark that I can see.

Thats a bad file there JPB....nothing on the first page and error msg on the second. I think they are similar if not the same from what I dug up pokin' around online....mention of the same IRFP250 fets.

          Well that sucks.
          Certainly is a bad file.
I really should preview my posts.
I will upload the complete Vetta schematic tonight.
In the meantime here is the link where it was found.
          It is a protected file.

That works. Looks like the same deal with double the output fets. Thanks.

              Hello Gtr_tech!
I know it's some time since your last post... Did you manage to fix it? I'm in the same boat. I also found the full schematics and service manual.

Nope....never bother'd with it. Its not anything I'd use anyway, so its a dust collecting doorstop right now. I may remove the preamp board and put it in a smallish enclosure just to have it functional as some sort of preamp one of these days. Its not a priority, I'd need to scare up or build the pwr supply anyway....so rainy day project. The head cabinet will eventually get recycled to house a tube amp build.

I have one that I believe has a good output section, bad preamp section.

                      Have you found this? http://www.epanorama.net/sff/Audio/M...0bulletins.pdf

Looks like an internal Line6 document with the most common problems and the solutions. It didn't help me but maybe you have better luck.

Hi - thanks for the response & link. I did see that last week, and tried all the fixes, but no luck. I was hoping that Gtr_tech was still accessing this forum and maybe still had the remains of the flextone he was working on. Did you happen to have a direct email for him?

My power amp section is good, preamp & effect seem ok because you can hear the different amp & effect types cycle with the standby noise - getting no signal from the input. I can plug into the FX return and hear both sides of power amp.

Would like to try the 1/4" input pcb first >> 35-00-4012 revD is what is written on the pcb.
Maybe if I could find one, the front control pcb # is 35-00-4003

You have any history on this model, something I could check that may be helpful? A schematic would be awesome... Thanks again

Thanks for the info. There are a couple differences between the the flextone II combo & Flextone II HD Head. Any chance you have the schematic for the head? I've searched the web, no luck...
