  • circa 69 Bandmaster Reverb re speed/intensity

    Hello fellas..ladies,
NEWBIE HERE! Well a nieghbor of mine moved out and one day he said.. help yourself to anything in the garage bro.. so....... I got my hands on an old Bandmaster Reverb head.. plugged it in. .. nothin.. so I bought a couple of 6L6's and a GZ34 and lo and behold.. I got sound!! WHOOOO HOOOOOOOO!
NOW to the question. I have no speed or intensity control.. is this a function of tubes or is it the controls themselves perhaps..??
I would greatly dig some input
    THANKS!
    Ben

Short the tremelo RCA jack from tip to sleeve and it will work or insert an open /closed footswitch. If it doesn't work about in the middle of the board you'll see a part covered in heatshrink. When you turn the speed control it will flicker faster turned to clockwise if working right.

Hey thanks for the input!!!!! (no electrical pun intended) um.. ok "short the tremelo RCA jack " um do you mean the 'vibrato pedal" jack or the "reverb pedal" jack.. those are the only two on the back of the chasis that are otherwise unoccupied . Is it correct operation of the Bandmaster that without shorting this RCA jack that the "speed" and 'intensity" control knobs make no difference in the sound?
( Like I said Im a NEWBIE). ie.. I really REALLY appreciate the help but .. I need things broken down into the simplest explination.. Like if you were explaining stuff to a KINDERGARTENER.. yeah .. thats me green all over bro!
I consider myself lucky that I figured out how to order the tubes and install them !!!!

vibrato and tremelo are not the same thing, but to Fender they are. SHort the vibrato jack to ground. That means in whatever fashion, connect the center connection of the jack to the outer connection.

The reverb jack is for the... reverb.

It is normal that the reverb is on unless turned off by the footswitch.

It is normal that the trem/vibrato is OFF unless turned on by the footswitch.

SHort that jack and now you find out if the trem works or not.

If you have as real Fender footswitch with the two plugs, the wire with the braided shield is for the reverb jack. The plug with the plain wire to the center is for the trem jack.

If it doesn't work, then the circuit has a pproblem. it will require soldering on the parts board inside if so. If you are not ready to solder, them would be the time to pass ot on to your tech.

Remember, when the amp is on, the voltages inside it can KILL YOU. Always unplig the this from the wall and wait a couple minutes before sticking your thumbs in there.
