I've got 4 springs in hand from an Accutronics reverb unit. 3 of the "Holders" are snapped. They resemble a fine wire through an insulated core. I am unsure what I have here. Can I just rewire the springs into the soldered sockets or are these "isolators" of electrical significance? Just have not got a clue as to what's up here. Transformers appear fine. Thanks for the help guys! I tried to do a little research but the mystery remains.

it's very hard to repair these satisfactorily, and new tanks are cheap.
The spring terminates in a straight wire which goes into the little tube through a rubber washer and is soldered into the back of the tube. There's a bit of magnetic metal (or ceramic I guess) like a tiny fishing weight on the wire inside the tube, the movement of which changes the flux in the laminations and induces a current in the little coil there. I wish the damn things were easier to fix, but they just ain't.

The little black bead is a ferrite magnet. The coil and magnet basically make up a small speaker and small pickup at each end of the spring.
In the old days, you could order the parts to repair a tank, but modern times have taken that away. If you unsolder the mounting lead from the brass tube, the remnant can be removed and if you can get the ferrite bead off of it, you could make a new one out of a guitar string. Then rehook the springs and away you go. Of course the response of the tank will be different with the replacement mounts.
Or if you keep old dead tanks around, you could swap one that has a dead coil with good mounts for yours with the dead mounts and good coil.

I am all for fixing things, but how much labor can I sink into a $20 item? I could rewind the transducers, but spending an hour on that, I might as well buy three new pans. An hour spent trying to replace ferrite beads?Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
