  • Problem with 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue - no sound.

I haven't had a lot of time yet to look into this, but a friend of mine has a 65DRRI that was making no sound when turned on. Tubes all heat up and have appropriate heater voltages. The first thing that has jumped out at me was that pins 2 and 8 on the rectifier metered over 900VAC. Seems like it should be more like 375 right? Any initial reactions as to what might cause that?

I wouldn't bother with that. You should be looking at B+ on pin 3 of the power tubes.

Looks like 410V on both power tubes. That's acceptable right?

Correction: that was pin 4. Pin 3 shows -12VDC on both

Since that's not correct by a long shot. (Should be more like +425V) Work your way back through the power supply path.
Such as...measure the voltage at the center tap of the output transformer primary, at the standby switch terminals, at the first filter cap. The last two points should be good since you have screen voltage.

Problem solved. One of the many jumpers from the power supply caps was disconnected on the main board. Can you tell I'm not used to looking at PC board amps? Thanks for the help and leading me to the source. Learn something every day.
