Carvin X100B resistor question.

Hi folks, Getting ready to put my X100B back together, and have a question about the screen resistors . I have one of the older early 80s issues. The resistors are currently 2w 470ohm , but I have noticed some of the other issues have 5w 350ohm. I will also be adding a bias adjustment . What could I use in this ? I will be using KT77 power tubes.

I use 470 2w in all of mine. The 2 watters will act as a fuse in the event of a tube short and open up. The 5w won't.

Makes good sense . I have already put 5w 1k s in place. I can't find the 2w locally, and I had the 5s. Will the fuse protect everything since these probably won't burn ?

1ks are a little much for 6Ls. They don't draw much screen current so 470 is optimum. Tone will suffer a bit with 1ks in place of the 470s.

I'm using KT77s , but I may reconsider ,and change them out

Better watch your heater current. That version was intended to run 6L6s and those draw .9a each. The KT77 will draw somewhere around 1.5a per tube. Thats an extra 2.4a draw off yer heater winding. Proceed with caution....I'd be real careful 'cause you can't replace that pwr transformer with anything but the exact one thats in it.....not an off the shelf part.

I've seen lots of others using these as well as E34ls ,and 6L6s as long as they were rebiased. I will be careful though.

Doesn't mean you heater winding is gonna like it. It may work now, but for how long?
