Oscilloscope and Signal Generator

I hate to say it but, there is an iphone application for a sig generator. I don't own either though I tested one for a friend and it was very clean as a sine wave generator............

You'll find similar apps if you're using an Android device too. I've used the app "FuncGen" a few times and it works very well, but connecting my very expensive phone to an amp makes me a little uneasy. As soon as I figure out what's important for what I want to do, I'm either building or buying a signal generator.
