  • Marshall MG10CD won't stay fixed!!

    Hi,

I have my friend's MG10CD for repair. It used to start clipping in the clean channel after 11 o' clock.... I replaced the TDA2030 IC because i thought it might have got ruptured because of improper cooling. I also re-coned the 6.5 inch speaker. There is a little bit of improvement but the amp now clips a bit after 12 o' clock!! :P
Now the cause of the clipping in the clean channel seems to be in the preamp ..But i'm not understanding what the problem is!!!

    PLEASE HELP!!

    Thanks and Regards

it's just a really bad amp. there could be any number of things that are wrong with it besides the transistor.

What exactly do you think is wrong?
The clipping at 11 or at 12?
Without a scope & a signal generator, you cannot really define the problem.
The Marshall MG10CD manual states that "The clean channel will sound bell like at low volume.
When the control is turned half way (ie:12:00) the amp will enter into the crunch range"
I would imagine that the kind of pickups you use has a lot to do with the drive of the amp.
And how hard you attack the strings.
        I have attached the manual.
