  • Gibson... Saturn?

This amp came in blowing fuse and needs cap job and new tubes. There is an odd 5-pin preamp tube socket that is not inline with the rest of the tubes. it's near the input jack end of the chassis though, and is mounted with rivets so it "looks" stock. Anyone know what tube goes in here? It seems connected to the "slide" switch near the input jacks, and also 1 pin runs to the "frequency" control.

Sounds like a footswitch connector to me. Gib$on used those types of connectors for that. 5 pin tubes are antiques from the early radio era....I don't think you'll find many in guitar amps.

      Yep....footswitch connector.....

I forget the type, but they were common in old CB equipment IIRC.

Looks to me that it is x1 on the schematic, which would be the footswitch jack.
