    Um...

    If you are going to recommend EL34s for that amp, you really need to point out that pin 1 on the power tube sockets is wired to pin 3, and that needs to be changed before using them. And the bias will want to become adjustable. And the existing screen resistors are only 100 ohms.

      Well this assumes the guy who's gonna install them knows enough to make the proper changes to the circuit to keep them happy including changing the bias arrangement to bring them into proper operating range.

      Real Sylvania 6CA7s have the beam plates externally pinned out to #1 (where the suppressor would be in an EL34). I think the EH version may be internally connected to the K, but I don't have any around right now to verify this.

        Thanks for the caveats, I was aware of those. I certainly have enough el34s around but the OT does get warm already so I may have to conserve.
