  • Peavey Bandit 112 low output volume in preamp?

Hi, This situation has happened a few times now. When I turn the amp on and plug guitar into the hi or lo gain jacks there is hardly any output volume. It almost sounds like a bad tube but there aren't any. When I plug the guitar directly into the return jack, it outputs full volume, but i have no control over it. So it seems like the problem is somewhere in the preamp section. Sometimes after plugging into the return and going back to the regular input jacks the volume is back, but could be just coincidence.

any ideas, thanks in advance for the help

As with many other posts here, by many much more knowledgable than i, it sounds like your send / return jacks are dirty.
Plug a 1/4" to 1/4" lead (standard mono guitar lead) from send to return, is the amp working normally now.

If so, there is some spray you can use (deoxit ???), spray it down the send & return jacks, and then plug a 1/4" lead several times in & out. This should fix the problem

If the lead from send / return doesnt work, then grab the schematic, input a test signal & follow the signal through to find out where it is getting lost, after measuring the power supplies to make sure they are all ok.
