Peavey Delta power tranny Blues

Is there a more robust power transformer that can be used in place of the stock ones? Of the two peavey classic & Delta amps I've worked on both had smoked trannys.I know Peavey will sell replacements for $65+.Anybody else have one go at a Gig?

I have never seen one with a bad PT, and I don't think that is a common failure.

Are you talking power tranny or output tranny ? I've never had to reolace a power tranny either.
