  • Fender Vibro Champ Arcing Repeatedly

This amp has some weird issues. First off, whenever I probe the power tube B+, my scope probe sparks. The scope is ground lifted, and no other tube amps do that, so something is wrong. I don't measure a difference in ground potential between the scope & the amp.

Also, the amp repeatedly arcs on the power tube socket between pin 3 and pin 2. So B+ is arcing to the Heater Voltage. I've replaced that socket twice. The amp came in with an arc on the (ceramic) socket and I replaced it with a Belton socket. Then the amp started blowing fuses, which was caused by the Belton socket somehow measuring 2K ohms between pin 3 to ground. I just put in a new socket and now it's arcing again.

    Anybody seen something like this?
