  • HiWatt High Gain 100 schematic???

    Hey all!

I just got this amp in as it popped a fuse.... need to check it but I would love to see something of a schematic. HiWatt does not deliver it to me......

Any ideas? Any schematics out there?

I traced a part..... maybe I should just finish it

Btw, these newer HiWatt amps; are they made by the same builder as those new Oranges? Exact same PCB and parts..... same lame sockets mounted to the board......

OK, need to vent my frustration......

The preamp tubes run on 24V which is divided over 2 preamps tubes. The poweramp tubes have a dedicated voltage of 6.1V AC (w/ no load) but when loaded the unit quickly draws it down to 5.5V.......

Guess this could be a good reason why the amp is popping fuses...... I run it at 240V setting (no 220V setting)...... no other wiring on the unit, just 2 fuses for the heater lines.

    Any ideas?

A schematic of the 50W hi gain Hiwatt amp can be found here:
HIWATT HI-GAIN 50 COMBO SCH Service Manual free download, schematics, eeprom, repair info for electronics

I thought I post it here because I was looking for it and found this post without resolution.

Do we know who is making these now?

There were a few people making Hiwatts recently.

Just got a Royal made 50w clone in.
Looks like the Jimmy Page version.
I'll know tomorrow when I crack it open.

The schematic for the high gain 50 says 'Changyu' so it appears they are chinese.
