  • Footswitch for Super Twin Reverb?

    Hello,
I wonder if somebody knows how will a two button Fender footswitch work on a Super Twin Reverb, supposing it works at all, would it engage the volume boost and the EQ? as you can imagine I wouldn't want to engage the distortion!
The Eq can be useful and I'm intrigued to see what the boost does, I've "read" it actually makes the amp 180w, being otherwise 135w... I know I won't hear much difference but I'm still intrigued! Thanks

    Fender Super Reverb footswitch

The EQ footswitch is a 1/4" mono plug. On/ Off
The Vol Boost footswitch appears to be a Tip/Ring/Sleeve plug (stereo)
The Ring to Sleeve gets connected. On/Off.

Nah, tip and ring don;t get connected. It is a TRS, but the ring is normally grounded. Opening the S1 switch or the FS to the ring will change the negative voltage feed from the bias supply up to the preamp to switch distortion in and out.

The tip contact, if you follow it up, just shorts out the negative feedback from the output transformer. That makes a cute, simple volume boost, by eliminating the gain reduction of the NFB.

A two button switch plugged into that jack would control those two functions.

A one-button into the EQ jack would copntrol the EQ. A two-button into the EQ jack would control the EQ on the one switch while the second switch would do nothing.

There there is yet another jack for reverb kill. Geez that's a lot of footswitchin'.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Hi and thanks for your time
So if the boost actually eliminates negative feedback then I know what it does, I recently installed a NFB pot and the amp is much more alive and sparkling. A one button footswitch will do just for the EQ, and maybe another for the reverb... still some footswitching tapping if you add pedals to that! Thanks
