I have a Mesa Boogie Roadster 2x12 combo and it has an annoyingly loud fan making it a pain for recording and low volume practice.
I have tried contacting Mesa directly to no avail and the Boogie Board posters were only helpful to the point of suggesting that a quieter fan (if a direct retrofit) might help reduce the noise. It also seems that not many people own the Mesa Boogie Roadster 2x12 combo so fan noise is not a popular concern.
I wonder if I really need the fan at low volumes or if the fan is more to keep the circuity cool due to filament heat alone and thus needs to be on always.
A continuously variable speed, temperature sensitive arrangement would make a lot more sense on a high-end amp like this me thinks!
BTW the head version of this amp does not have a fan, only the combo version like mine; I assume because convection cooling is better on the head version, but who knows for sure.
I would sure like to simply disconnect that noisy fan or at the least replace it with the quietest fan on the planet.
Suggestions welcome!
