Sooooo. I took in a Bugera 333 today to fix a broken input jack. All went well on that so I was jamming on it for a functionality test and tried adjusting the gain on the lead channel. Nothing. I switched to the crunch channel and the gain adjusted just fine. I switched back to the lead channel and the gain knob was dimed and it sounded like the crunch channel. I adjusted the gain knob on the crunch channel and it affects the lead channel.WTF! The EQ's and volumes work separately but for some damn reason, right now they are sharing a gain control. Is this just a relay not switching? I looked on the control panel and no mods have been done to the amp. Really weird.

Any chance that the connector ribbon cables got bumped.
I would try resoldering them. -
Not sure what kind of switching the amp uses, but I'm sure the gain control and EQ control switching is different components. Whatever switches the gain control is where I'd be looking."Take two placebos, works twice as well." Enzo

Got it. Bad relay. Scoped the transistor and it was doing its grounding thing. Checked the relay. Nothing. Changed it and all is ducky. Thanks fellas. Gosh I really love working on tube amps. Really electronics in general but there is something about tube amps. Plus I get to play every one I fix. ( I mean "burn in") Which is a big plus.Comment
