Clicking inside the amp, or a ticking through the speaker? If the latter, make sure that the output board plate has continuity with the chassis, and that the tube retainers (if the spring type) have continuity with the board plate. If they do not, ticking can be the result.

We've had good luck so far with JJ 6550s (from Eurotubes) in SVT-CLs.
