weak preamp overdrive on 2555 silver jubilee

the "ser.no 3100+" seems to match up with mine pretty good.

after i brought my amp home from the practice space yesterday, i opend it up to compare it to the pics you showed me...man, there's some weird stuff goin' on in my amp.

Jubilees had a pentode/triode sw. IIRC. Any chance it's on triode mode? (just to rule it out)

hi Dai,
if your referring to the low/high output switch on the front...yeah i've tried it both ways. on my old 2553 i would always run it on high. i tried to use the low on this one to smooth out the cheap sounding buzz, but then it just sounded like a weak power amp on top of a weak preamp.

FIXED! (or modded anyway)

turns out i just had an earlier version. Steve (SDM) over at the MetroAmps forum helped me track it down. then he figured out a way to mod it to be just like a later version. he even made me step by step instuctions.

can any of you guys post pics of your jubilee boards so i can just compare and copy?

I stumbled across this trying to figure out why my 2555x sounded like a neutered mid-gain amp rather than the jcm800 fire breather that it was made out to be. Apparently I'm not the only one with this issue.
I'll pop out the chassis over the weekend and post pics of this silver telexed box of patheticness that I've acquired.
