  • dead cap?

    I was cheking and old Gibson Falcon GA19RVT ( a friend of mine found it in rubish ) and saw a 0.022 cap from power swicht to ground.
    The amp have the 3 prog cable installed, but i supose the pre-owner forgot take out this cap....

    Is this the famous dead cap?

        You can remove it, or leave it. With the three wire power cord, the chassis will not become "hot" if that cap leaks.
        Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

          "Death Cap"... the most overly used term by novice techs I've ever heard.
          I can count on one hand how many bad ground caps I've found in thousands of amp repairs.

              Choco, was the green and yellow conected to the cap???? It needs to go to the chassis!

                Yes. Of course, ground cable is conected to chasis.

                Those photos are 6 months ago... Now, new power and rectifier valves installed. Cap job (not completed, upsssss) and a Weber 12F150 make it really loud!!!!
