  • crackling pots in princeton reverb

    Hi,

I have a strange problem with my princeton reverb. All the pots are crackling as if they were dirty or worn out. They crackle in certain positions and anytime you adjust them. When I replece them with known good ones, they crackle as well. When I put the crackling pots into another amp, they work perfectly. The pot housings are solidly grounded with a ground bus ... still, could there be some kind of static? This does not make sense to me.

    any ideas? thanks!

Sounds to me like a capacitor is 'leaking' Vdc into the circuit.

        I am thinking 'coupling cap'.

Thanks ... it turned out that the 250pf treble cap was leaking. The amp is working fine again!

            Glad you got it.
            The clues where there.
You just had to find which one was leaking.
