  • Blues Deluxe +/- 16v resistors

Hey did they change the value of the voltage dropping resistors from 330ohms over the years?
This one has 470's, like the Hot Rod Deluxe, and they look stock.

The schematic for the Blues Deluxe RI shows 470 ohms.
Curiously, the Blues Deville stays with the 330 ohms.

I know there's been some debate on this issue, and oddly enough some amps I get in don't have the problem of these resistors overheating, others all burned to hell.

The voltage at the low end is set by zeners anyway, so changing resistance will not lower voltage. That means 470 will run cooler than 330. Desirable.

The resistor value increase was one of the early fixes.

The Deluxe and the DeVille have different power supplies so the value of the dropping resisitors are different. If I remember correctly the DeVille uses a separate supply for the low voltages. The Deluxe uses the same supply used for the power amp bias, so it needs to drop more voltage to get down to the 16 volt level..
