Is a 6AQ8 almost equivalent to a 12AX7? Are they interchangeable?

Just like the subject line says...

I think I see that that pin-outs of a 12AX7 is the same as a 6AQ8. Can one swap for the other (even sort of)?

Well, I'd say electrically it is a lot more like a 12AT7 than a 12AX7.

The pinouts are not the same. Look at the heaters.

If you wired up a socket with 6v across pins 4 and 5 it would light up and probably work. The typical wiring for 12AX7s on 6v is 4 and 5 wired together with the 6v across them and pin 9.
