The Pignose speaker can lock up, it still works, but the cone can't move anymore.
This causes a considerable drop in loudness.
When your little piggy blows a speaker, you quickly find most of today's
guitar worthy speakers are rated 30 watts or higher.
You might also find that pignose does not sell replacement speakers.
Even car audio speakers have increased in magnet size and wattage.
But this is a problem for replacing the pignose speaker, because the original
is flat and small, compared to available substitutes.
Also the replacement 5 inch speakers lack the front mounted gasket,
The cone can move forward, and bang into the flat speaker grill of the piggy....

And so, if you want, go for a speaker spacer. This can put about 1/4" space
between the cone of the speaker, and the speaker grill.
This shows how a 5 inch car stereo spacer was cut down, to fit into the little oink-er.
This will stop the speaker cone from hitting the grill while you are playing.

However the stock screw studs are too short, and buried under the Tolex...difficult to replace with longer ones.
To mount this thicker assembly on the stock screw studs, We are using something
called a "sex screw....." or sex bolt...or post screw (?)
This may refer to the fact that the screw is female. (instead of male threads)
Or, possibly, "sex screw" referring to the fact that you are being f*c*ed when you buy it, because it costs so much(?)

And now with the special sexy modern hardware in place, the little swine will be just fine.
So, get a hoof on 'this' reassembly:

Even when they were completely new in the 70s I never understood the allure of a Pignoise. Never liked anything about them.

But this one lost 98% of its claim to fame and fortune: it lost its Pig-nose knob for a Marshall one

That was my allure, I'd almost buy one just to have the darn pig nose knob.

The nose knob is the best part, for sure.
This one was missing, so now it has a Malaysian Marshall Knob.
Those nose knobs command quite a price for a used one...
