  • Behringer Truth B2030A ICs

    Dear friends,

I plugged my 110v Behringer Truth 2030A studio monitor into a 220v mains in Brazil. A few capacitors changed and my local repair local shop got it working again, but its sound got really muddy, like its tweeter stopped working.

The shop now claims they need to replace an IC that says JM41ABLM4701T to get those high frequencies back.

I haven't found a single reference to that code anywhere. The closest I could get was LM4701T, available from DBM Pro Audio's Behringer List.

Could anyone point me out suggestions on how/where should I be looking for it?

    Thanks

You are correct about the part number, LM4701T. The other number (JM41AB) is some manufacturing code that is not included in the part number.
As it is an obsolete part, you have to get it from somewhere that sells behringer parts, like dbm. John Frondelli of dbm is a member of this forum and sometimes posts here, see this post:

Thanks @g-one. They seem to be really respected around here. Lucky for me, I'll be visiting the US next week so they'll have it shipped to my hotel.

Most of results come from China, and I heard recent stories of fake ICs being sold there, so I won't take that risk.

It did, however, show me an US store selling them 20min from where I'll be staying. Might pick up some spares if I get the time.

        thanks

Whenever I search eBay, I check the "US Only" box. Now admittedly, one could still import defective parts and resell them on eBay, but I've had pretty good luck. Nothing defective or "fake" YET. Sometimes it's the only place you can find discontinued parts and it's a choice of junk the gear or take a stab. I realize not everyone here is from the US, but the point is that if you buy "in country" (whatever your location), it's more likely that at least you'll have some recourse if you do get crappy parts.

I`m not saying go buy from ebay.

I`m saying we live and die by our reputation on ebay. Someone who has sold, say 9000 items and has a reputation of 99-100% I would take the chance and do business with.

Though, I wish I had a US store 20 min. away.

I bought an obsolete power IC for an older powered monitor from China off EBay.
It was only like $10 so I figured what the heck, after a couple weeks I emailed the guy that I hadn't got it yet so he sent me another for free, and both came a week later on different days. The original must have got hung up in shipping.

I bought a berhinger replacement board from Chase' s group.
Got the phone number off of DBM Audio's website.
