  • Ampeg Gemini II Tone stack question

    Greetings to all,

Just joined this Forum and have been restoring a 1967 Ampeg Gemini II. Was hoping someone might be able to verify the correct values for the pF capacitors embedded in the ceramic wafer.

I am rebuilding the pots and tone stack with point-to-point wirings & components.

I have a schematic from Ampeg customer service, which matches the one on the back cover of the cabinet.

I also have the Piazza version.

    Here is the question:

The Ampeg original schematic shows a 0.00047uF and a 0.0047uF capacitor within the wafer. The Piazza drawings shows a 47pF and a 470 pF capacitor.

    Converting all to pF, 0.00047 uF = 470 pF. And 0.0047uF = 4700 pF.

If my conversions are correct, then the Piazza drawing is in error (assuming Ampeg is correct).

    I welcome comments and/or clarifications.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers .....

Joe P has been known to slip up.
Then again, Ampeg has been known to change things.
What is wrong with the wafer that is in the amp?

Two issues - the Channel 2 treble and now bass pots are very intermittent - they cut out.
Want to replace the PC board with a P2P solution on this channel.

So, likely the Ampeg schematic values are correct?

Is the treble control really 4M?
