Replacement potentiometer for Fender Red Knob Twin

I have found this replacent pot for a Fender Red Knob Twin, the proble is that it has a full shaft and not a D Shaft pot:

How do i slide the shaft in order to be able to use it for the red knob twin model?

How do i slide the shaft in order to be able to use it for the red knob twin model?

If you can't find the exact replacement, I have done it 2 ways. 1) drill the hole in the pot rounds an use a little JB weld or epoxy when mounting it, or 2) use a Dremel tool or fine hack saw to flatten the post. You also might be able to find a different knob that looks the same.
