PEAVEY XXL head won't switch channels

I have a Peavey XXL head with the foot switch that comes with it. Right now, the amp is stuck on the clean channel (works great with my BOSS GT-100), but I would like to switch to the other channels and use the amp's gain. If I plug in the foot switch, it lights up like it's working normally, but nothing happens other than different lights coming on and off.

Has anybody experienced this problem and/or know of a fix? I am wondering if the problem is the jack on the amp where the switch plugs in since the switch itself seems to be working, but then again, I don't really know how to test it.

Well, I thought I was smarter than the average bear, but apparently not. After finally getting my hands on the owners manual, I learned that the channel switch on the head has to be in the "ultra" position. At first, the clean channel wouldn't operate, but after a while it did. Maybe I pushed it in the jack far enough with some extra special tough love. Now It's working consistently and I'm really enjoying it.

Now, to go bang my head on a wall somewhere.
