  • What does this mod do? VH100R

On my VH100R I have discovered a little mod on the wire that leads to my (4 Ohm) speaker outputs it consists of resistor in parallel with an orange cap. Resistor is Red Red Black Red Brown, the cap I do not know how to read the value. Here is a photo. It's on the brown wire that is going from presence, resonance stuff towards 4 Ohms tap. What does this do?

That is your negative feedback line from the output back to the phase splitter. SOmeone was tweaking the circuit for some desired effect. We don't know if they changed any parts over at the phase inverter end at this point. But if the amp works and sounds OK, leave it. Or you could just short across the thing - basically connect the brown wire back to the jack. and see if you like it better.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Yeah this is adding low mids in to the sound, a tweak from a place that modified the amp years ago.. OK cool.
