  • Bias probes ?? UK supplier?

    Hi All

Ive been using the Tad Biasing master for about 12 mths now. Brought some new probes ( £45 ) for the EL84 last month and are now broken. My fault but they are very

So what im looking for its a company in the uk that sells. The stuff i need to make my own and use a dig meter for EL34 and EL84. I have plenty of them to use. Maybe able to use the Tad bias meter

I can order for the USA at Hoffman EL34 world. But i would perfer to buy in the uk Anybody Help?

Modulus Amps has the bare octal valve bases which you can mate up to a socket. What does the TAD adapter use to measure current - 1R resistor or a break in the cathode circuit, or something else?

The noval/B9A plug is much more difficult to get. Good hunting with that one.

Out of interest, what broke on the TAD probes?

Interested in this too. I guess so many EL84 amps are cathode biassed there isn't such a great demand for these probes. I have to say the Hoffman probe kits are very good value.

But for the EL84 I am thinking I will make one. Perhaps using an old valve base, piece of plastic pipe, 1R resistor and old pre amp valve with the innards removed.

I would also like to be able to probe the plate voltage perhaps a little hole in the pipe just at the right place will do the trick. Need to be careful though.
