  • Peavey Mace Footswitch LEDs ?

    Hello all ,

A friend has purchased a Peavey Mace VT ,and bought a separate footswitch. The switch had all the LEDS disconnected ,and he is trying to get them reconnected properly. He says he has it working ,but when he selects either Lead , or Rhythm that the LEDs on the amp dim. He says its a little brighter when he uses the Combine switch . Anyone know exactly how these are suppose to be wired ?

    Thanks !

Does the footswitch actually say Mace on it? And are the buttons labeled selector, combiner, reverb, and phasor? PV footswitches of that era didn't often have LEDs.

Good question Enzo. I'll find out. I never really thought about that until you mentioned it. Did they actually say Mace ,or just Peavey ? I've never seen one that I remember. I see one on Ebay that has the switch ,and it's called an Automixer. Selector, Combiner, Reverb ,and Phase ?

peavey had more than one model amp that used those features.

I have a Peavey Deuce here (same schematic as the Mace I believe) and it has the original footswitch. There are no LEDs fitted. Just the words SELECTOR, COMBINER, REVERB, PHASE and some rust.

This was a Mace VT ,and said original, so I figured it was the correct one.

Actually I found out the footswitch is NOT the one for a Mace. It is a four button Peavey switch with LEDs. He says it works with the exception of the LEDs fading.

                Clip the LED's out.
Or use a battery to power them.

Thanks Jazz. How would you power them with a battery ?

                    You will need DP switches.

Double pole ? DPDT or DPST ?

I am shooting from the hip.
I do not have the footswitch in front of me.
I think the Peavey switch uses SPST in all of the functions except Combine.(SPDT)
So whatever is currently in the switch, add a pole.

Well..that makes sense . How would one wire a battery to it though ? Is there a diagram floating around ? Thanks Jazz !

Hook up the LED circuit to the unused side of the DP switch.
When the switch is engaged, that will take the LED, with a 1K current limiting resistor, to ground.
                            Battery+/ to LED/ to 1K resistor/ to Battery Minus.
