  • Ampeg BA155 HPT How to open speaker enclosure

    Hi to all of you,

I have here an Ampeg BA115 HPT which needs a new speaker, but I do have no clue
how to open the speaker enclosure or how to remove the front grill.

Is there anyone who can help me with this problem?

Any tips, hints are very appreciated.

    Thx in advance,

    Gerhard

There is a piece of Velcro in the 4 corners.
Carefully work a flat object behind a corner & lever it apart.

Thx for your reply. It seems I'm too dumb for that job. I tried to lever the front grill with a flat screwdriver but I
don't dare to use that brute force that seems to be necessary as the grill is located approx. 1 cm inside the cabinet.

I should try to lever the grill between the cabinet and the piping . Is that right?

        Was there a previous owner?
        Previous repair maybe?
I am thinking it is now glued!
The grill should pry off with the piping attached (stapled) to the frame.

Ok, I see it is using the plastic (rather than fabric) type velcro. Those can snap closed really tight, so tight you may think there are screws or something holding it on.
If using the screwdriver technique as shown in the video, I would suggest using something other than a rag to protect the tolex and cab from dents. Something hard and wide to spread out the pressure, like a hard plastic strip or something.
