  • Trem problem

    Wow, here's an odd amp!
A Gibson GSS100. Solid state, looks similiar to Thomas Vox stuff.
In the trem circuit is a 6 pin black square plastic little box.
It seems to be some sort of transformer. The amp has an oscillator circuit which I got working, but it was intermittant...the trem cicuit still works, but the signal through the trem circuit is weak. pushing down on this little "box" would make it work as it should....transformer in a trem circuit?

It could be some sort of opto-isolator.

The 7380? That is two photocells and a bulb in one package. tboy is right.

Page 436 in the master service guide. Schematic Heaven has the guide, but it is a 20M download. Still, worth the trouble if you service much Gibson.

        Edit: Holy *%$#, that's a big big manual....mucho thanks to whoever found it/posted it/etc.
That sure looks like the circuit. Hope the module isn't shot.
        Thanks.

That is a great manual. I have an actual copy on my shelf and I use it a lot.

I'm on a dial up. I can't imagine trying to download that thing.

Only a few minutes here at work, we have a pretty cool system plus I have all my schems and info on a special drive so if my computer dies it won't be lost.
