    I have a crate gx130c.how hot should the ceramic resistors(r37 r38)get?

    Here's the schematic:

    Those resistors are "voltage droppers" for the low voltage power supply. They reduce voltage by converting the energy into heat. They are shown as 10watt resistors.
    So it is normal for them to get very hot, that is their job.

      Yes they get surprisingly hot. Doing the math we find that, according to the voltages shown on the schematic, R37 is dissipating 4.8 Watts. [Voltage drop squared divided by the resistance] Before you experience this you would think that the resistor would not get very hot because it is only dissipating half of it's wattage rating. In actual practice the resistor will get much too hot to touch under these circumstances. At least longer than a momentary feel. These resistors are usually mounted with some space between them and the circuit board. Otherwise, the circuit board will discolor over time.
