The problem with all sorts of ridiculous power claims in the 60s-70s, and the advent of FTC regulation in the 70s is something that's been discussed on this site several times, ad nauseum. The problem is that the advent of FTC regulations doesn't make apples-to-apples comparisons all that easy when the FTC test standards themselves are changed.
Even today we continue to see silly power numbers. Peak Music Power, or some equally silly standard, has found it's way back into marketing, so the problem is getting worse instead of better.
