  • Traynor - YGM-2 - biasing issues

    Hi There,

I have a Traynor YGM-2 that I'm having some problems with. This amp runs on 2 EL84s, which I currently have pulled. I am not seeing any negative supply voltage to pin 2 which I believe should show around -20VDC.

Here's the voltages that I'm getting with the tremolo Intensity and Speed at 0:

    Pin 1 : not connected
Pin 2 : when I first turn it on it reads -3VDC then it slowly goes down to 0
    Pin 3 : 0
    Pin 4 : 3.3VAC
    Pin 5 : 3.3VAC
    Pin 6 : Not connected
    Pin 7 : 450VDC
    Pin 8 : not connected
    Pin 9 : 450VDC

Any help would be great. Thanks!

What reading do you get at pin 2 with the tubes installed?

The output stage is cathode biased.

Thanks for the response. I thought I had replied the other day, but I guess it didn't post.

I've fixed the amp. I had to replace the 12ohm/56K pairing as well as replace a number of caps - notably, the cathode resistor bypass cap was kaput.

      Thanks for your time!
