  • Laney TF 300 tone problems...

    Hi everyone...

I have a Laney TF300 and USED to love it...

Had a problem with sound breaking up had a tech guy check things out and had everything professionally cleaned... Almost cured the problem but still cut out when hard driven.

Replaced the tube, like for like and now no breakup or cutting out BUT...

    The tone is awful!

I play mostly metal and use a fair bit of overdrive... It sounds like a tinny 6 inch speaker has been dropped into the amp... IT'S HORRIBLE!

Since the clean I have noticed that the Vibe button really makes a difference to the tone where as before it made very little difference to the tone.

I want my old TF300 back!!!!

Any suggestions what has happened to the tone?

    Thanks in advance

    Try a different tube.

And if a different tube doesn't help, try a different speaker.

        Thanks for your replies

Have tried a number of different tubes with no change...

Tomorrow I am plugging into a cab to see if there is a speaker issue...

        FIngers crossed
