I just got my first fender amp. The tone is amazing and I absolutely love it. My problem is when I plug the footswitch in, the amp goes to the drive channel and doesn't switch out. The footswitch lights up and acts to be functioning properly but does not operate or change any channels or the more drive channel. I am using a speaker chord that it came with. I tried a good instrument cable and another speaker chord with no luck. Any info would be greatly appreciated....thanks

There are many Fender footswitches...they change the designs all the time.
and they do not have the corresponding amp, or year, written on the outside of the footswitch.
So, it is rather easy to mix up the foot switch, so it is not plugging in to the right amp, or the right year design.
All the FS plugs into all the amps, but it may not be the right switch for that certain year amp...
So, I open the footswitch and the amp, get the model of the board, call Fender, and make sure that "THIS" foot switch is intended to plug into "THIS" amp.
The schematic does not tell you what the board number of the FS should be either...so, it potentially causes a lot of mistakes and confusion.
Then, after you are sure that the FS was not mixed up at the music store, and that you DO have the exact intended foot switch...for YOUR amp...
You can start troubleshooting.
Lately, I have seen the DIODES in the foot switch blow. The diode SHORTS in the foot pedal. Then it causes problems that you are describing.
Also the CABLE that hooks up the switch, can be open or shorted too.
And the schematics, don't always have the diode part numbers. Or, the LED part numbers either...so call Fender again for some part numbers.
I think, turn OFF the amp, before plugging in the foot switch cable, this may prevent the diodes from blowing.
It's always helpful, to get down to a music store, and try a different foot switch and cable. This way you can hopefully isolate the cause.
Also, call and ask Fender for the entire Service Manual, not just the schematic. There is some helpful additional information, possibly in the service manual.
Like for example, the foot switch schematic.
Be glad you do not have the new Supersonic, with DIN connector foot switch. When the cable SHORTS, smoke comes out of the amp...there is + and -15 volts running in the cable.
Which was, a silly idea. There have been a lot of problems with Supersonic foot switches lately.
So you are lucky not to have to deal with THAT. (it could be worse)
Anyhow, the FS has both zener diodes and switching diodes, so make sure you identify these correctly.
In many of these foot switches, you have to pull one leg of the diode off the circuit board, because the circuit prevents you from measuring the diode.
When you find the shorted diode, and replace it, you will be up and going again, good luck.
This is really funny because I have not used effects pedal or foot switch in over 20 years.
and even before that, I just had big muff and Vox wha wha.
I just plug in and play. Screw foot switches! What a headache.
I was playing on Wednesday and I was using Cyber Deluxe, with 4 button foot switch. But I never once pushed it.
2 other guitar monsters in band had mega effects and footswitches.
But I just played clean, (Howard Roberts: garden variety guitar chords you should KNOW)
and nobody noticed any difference.Last edited by soundguruman; 12-28-2013, 04:10 PM.

The Blues Deville does not have a 'more drive' function.
Can you post a pic?

In a music store, there is many amps and many foot switches. They get mixed up easily.
The foot switch is NOT labeled.
Confirm that the FS is correct for the amp first.
This will save a lot of problems. I confirm the FS and amp combo BEFORE proceeding.
Good call.
Fender: put labels on the ##!)&##@!! footswitch, it's about time.

See if you can get the right one from where ever you bought the amp.
Otherwise the one you have:
