I'm working on an old Peavey PA head. I have several older Opamps but not the BA4560. Would an old TL 072 work?

The pin out is the same, so for test purposes it should work. Some of the specs may be different so performance may suffer depending on the exact circuit. TL072 is jfet input, 4560 is not.Originally posted by EnzoI have a sign in my shop that says, "Never think up reasons not to check something."

In general, dual op amps are interchangeable.
But the 4560 is kinda passe, everywhere Peavey used a 4560 a few years ago, they now use a 4580, which would work just fine.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

The 4580 is improved version of the standard OpAmp and it’s highly recommended for replacements where special features (low noise/low power/high slew rate/high impedance/high output current/precision) do not require.
The list of the most frequently used OpAmps that can be successfully replaced with 4580: 1458, 4558, 4559, 4560, 4562, 4565, 5218, etc.
