I have a Traynor YCV40 here in the psuedo shop. It is version 13 on the board and of course I have version 14 schematics. Anyway, it's making a vibro sound at full volume ala Fender kinda. It gets faster as the volume gets louder to the point to where it just goes into harsh, pulsing hash on the peaks. I know this amp has voltage regulation, and I'm not that familiar with that. I have checked the tubes and all that. I've just never seen this before. All the transistors and the regulator(s) show no shorts or opens. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Yes, it plays clean when not full on.
The voltages do sag a little when playing almost then on up to full volume, but that's to be expected.Comment

Do you have access to an oscilloscope? Is the fluctuation frequency dependent? How fast or slow is the fluctuation?Comment

No, the fluctuation is only dependent on how loud it is.
The fluctuation is slow at the beginning, then gets faster and faster with more volume. Then on the loudest peaks it is all broken up. It's kinda like a bias circuit vibro like a Vibro Champ. After the evening's gig, I'll look at the bias supply voltage and see if it's going up and down. I really only checked the plates before. It's kinda like a sagging tube rectifier that sags during the attack peaks, but then it sags again and again and faster with more volume.Comment
