peavey triumph 60 new pot needed

hello,my first post. I have a peavey triumph 60 tube amp. while cleaning the pots the first one the pre pot on the ultra gain got stuck and I tried to yurn it and it broke and started turning freely.does anyone know the part# for new one?

i am a novice to this stuff can someone give me a step by step to insalling the new pot. thank you,Cleon

Howdy!

The pre pot on the Ultra gain is a std. Peavey 1M audio taper pot I believe. peavey part # 31190516
Peavey will sell these to you, call them at 877-732-8391 during regular business hours in Meridian Miss.
or you could try Ebay or an online dealer, though many of these just buy from peavey and add a few dollars.

Use a low wattage temp controlled soldering irion and a "solder sucker" or solder wick to remove solder, don't heat pcb trace up too much or they pull off these old boards!
Remember to use electrical grade rosin core solder (NOT plumbing solder!!) and this is an easy fix, good luck!

With your pot there are also 4 tabs which are soldered onto the board, all of these will need to come off.

Even if a trace comes up, you can always run insulated wire and fix it up

If you have a Dremel, it's sometimes easier to pull off old components by cutting the legs off of them with the Dremel. That way you are pulling one leg off the board at a time, rather than trying to desolder and pull all 7 legs at once.

ok I think I can handle it,kinda leary though about pulling off pcb. oh yea all I have is silver solder is that ok or should I order a swmall bit of rosin solder and some wick as I have none,I am a noobie solder you can tell.

Silver solder melts at a higher temperature. I'd use regular electronics solder, like Kester 44, might as well order a little solder while you're ordering the desoldering wick. And do think about cutting those legs off so you can make pulling it off the PCB easier.

ok the part is ordered ,any tips on getting the old pot out and getting this done with out messing with taking things apart much.thanks here are some more pictures.

You just gotta disassemble it....maybe you can leave the power supply board in place though.

yea it will be ok ,I just gotta take it slow .thought there might have been a way to work around the disasembly I have a lot of images for reference..I see 2 screws on the top green board are those spacer looking deals some type of fastener too?

I think the spacer deals were where a shield was mounted, and is now missing.

ok,got everything ready saw some videos on pulling up old solder and soldering on utube. just waiting for the part in the mail,also the boards were easy to get out and only needed to unplug the one and is easy to re-assemble.I want to thank you guys for the advice and guidance,now it is up to me wish me luck.
