Bugera 333XL input jack...

The external part of the input jack from my Bugera 333XL combo has broken off but it still works if the lead is held in the right spot. Is it hard to replace (and what part(s) would I need?) or should I get it repaired by a professional for ~$100. I'm pretty much a novice at this but don't mind to do it if it isn't too hard or more experience is required.

The socket is end-mounted onto the control panel PCB that runs along the front of the amp, mounted on standoff pillars. You only need the socket and it's probably a parts-bin stock item from many supply houses, but you need to check the pinout and dimensions.

It isn't hard to replace, but it depends on how skilled you are at removing a component. If you damage the PCB tracks or solder pads you're in a worse mess. You also need to appreciate the safety aspects of working on an amp and discharge the caps.

No. It needs to be a shorting jack. I suggest you replace like-with-like.

Here's the type of jack you're looking for and the picture shows how they're mounted (though from a different amp). I hesitate to recommend any particular socket, because sometimes there are slight differences in pin spacing or location, and the body or thread length can vary slightly. The only way is to get the part from a Bugera dealer, or to take your amp apart, measure the jack and compare it with parts supplier specs. Mouser, Digikey, Farnell or RS Components will probably have a replacement. It's a double-sided board so there's an additional challenge to removing the old one.

ok, well I have contacted 'music group' (bugera's parent company) so I will see what they say regarding the specific part.
