  • 2 layered 5-way rotary switch needed

    Hello,

For a project I need a 5-way rotary switch with 2 poles in the center and 2 layers of that, so I can switch 2 independent functions without the 2 layers interfering with eachother.
For example 1 layer could switch between resistor values, the 2nd layer between cap values while I rotate the positions.

What is such a switch called please? Thanks

2 pole 5 position rotary selector switch.
There's tons of them from China, on ebay.

I don't understand what you mean by "layers". Do you mean 2 poles 5 position X2?

If you mean two- 2 pole 5 position switches in one unit, then you need a 4 pole 5 position rotary switch.

These are selected as "number of decks=2" "number of poles per deck=2" "number of positions=5"

I ordered some of these rotaries from tayda - Rotary Switch - Switches, Key Pad - Electromechanical - and was surprised to find that a switch I was installing had fewer positions than I was expecting. Then I realized that the switch chassis had a bunch of holes in its surface around the middle shaft, and one of the washers that came with the switch had a little tab that fit into those holes. The number of positions it would switch to was determined by where you positioned the washer tab, such that a 2p6T could be a 2p5T if you wanted.
