I just acquired a Peavey Classic VT Series 212 amp and I have a question about the speaker configuration. The amp has two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel. That yields a total load of 4 ohms. The amp has two speaker jacks. One is labelled "MAIN" "8 ohms" the other is labelled "AUX." "4 ohms" (See attached picture). It seems to me the built in speakers, what I would consider the "main" speakers, ought to be plugged into the 4 ohm jack, not the 8 ohm jack. Also, the 4 ohm jack is a switching jack, but it does not disconnect the 8 ohm input. The amp will work with speakers plugged into either or both jacks. Can someone help me understand how this speaker set up is supposed to work? Should the built in speakers be plugged into the 4 ohm jack? Can I safely plug a 4 ohm load into the 4 ohm jack and an 8 ohm load into the 8 ohm jack at the same time?
Thanks
John
