  • 6L6EH idle in Pignose G60VR?

I've got a G60VR on the bench just repaired for another problem, the customer hoping collect later for a gig.

I noticed the output stage was pretty hot, when I measured the idles I was seeing 50 and 60mA, so 27w at 450v . That seems a pretty high to me, but I'm struggling to find data on the EH, or whether it should be in this amp. I've seen references to the EH being able to stand a bit more. If I fit a pair of GT6L6R's instead, idles are down to 27ma

    Anyone familiar with this amp/valve?

The bias voltage is derived from the main HT winding via reactive coupling C1. The bigger the cap, the more negative the voltage. I would parallel another cap across this to bring your dissipation down some if you need to.

The EH looks a lot like the WXT+.

Ah that's a much better circuit than I've got, mine's almost illegible. Thanks very much.
