  • Haze 40 volume pot

Does anyone know where I can get a volume pot like this? It's on a Marshall Haze 40 and is the gain channel volume. I tried to take a pic and get some numbers for you. Looks like A1M on top and @0A2 on the base. (the cap has nothing to do with it. Just the angle of the pic) It has 7 solder posts plus the soldered mounting posts on each side. I've been told it was, MARSHALL PART NUMBER POTP92001

    Thanks

Wow! That sure looks like the one I need! Has anyone found that pot somewhere in the US? What is the difference between this one and the 4 post one? I have found the 4 post in the US. Thanks for your help.

When I was repairing my personal Haze 40 after they first came out (shipping plus an incorrectly mounted pot did the damage to a brand new unit) I got tired of trying to locate this exact part so I searched the web using Google for a dual 1M Audio-taper pot and found some for sale at a reasonable price (sorry, don't remember where the link lead me). These were standard traditional form-factor pots so I mounted it legs up and wired the connections to the circuit after determining the proper order. Because this was a U.S. standard pot form factor, the solid-shaft was the wrong type and size for the original Haze push-on knob so I used a matching Marshall knob with a set screw that worked fine.

I believe I also placed a small piece of stiffer foam under this portion of the board at the front panel to support & damp this section of board since the pot at this location was no longer being used as a support element.

This may not be what you want but this sort of "MacGyver" tactic can be employed in the absence of such a specialized component if you need it bad enough. I certainly trust this new (cleanable) pot more than the original unit!

Thanks for your reply. I don't know if I could handle your method of repair. (Wish I could!). Isn't there any place in this country that has a pot like the one I need??? I know a lot of people that buy things according to the accessibility of repair/replacement parts. I think maybe us musicians need to start thinking along those lines too. Very frustrating. Thanks again for the replies......

Yeah, I only wanted to illustrate that it isn't always totally hopeless even when the part is not available. HOWEVER, take Enzo's advice and CALL or email John Sprung at Parts is Parts:

I recently needed a power transformer for a discontinued Vox amp and he was able to get one for me fairly quickly. i COULD NOT FIND ANY MENTION OF THIS PART ON THE INTERNET (just like you and your search) but since John is a factory-authorized parts source for a lot of the major manufacturers he can usually track this sort of stuff down. Give him a shout!

Never assume that any part seller has his complete inventory listed online, they have lots more than what is on the web sites.
