  • Peavey Bravo 112 channel switch problem

    Hi

Hoping one you experienced engineers. can help me. A friend gave me this to have a look at. It was intermittently cutting out. Cleaned all the pots and it seemed to be the overdrive channel that was intermittent. I removed the main board and found a few djs on the relays. Put everything back and ive now got just the clean channel.
If i connect the foot s/w, that switches between the 2 channels ok and i can s/w it off and on by the channel select s/w on the front panel
But if i remove the s/w its back to just clean channel

If anyone can point me in a direction or has any good ideas

    many thanks

There are a couple switches inside the footswitch jack that need to close when there is no footswitch connected.
Try cleaning the footswtich jack, if that doesn't do it you may have to resolder it or replace it.

i will look at that. But if i disconnect the foot s/w the amp only works on clean channel. using the s/w on the front panel does nothing

Which is exactly the point. There are contacts in the footswitch jack that complete a circuit. If those contacts get sprung or dirty or the solder cracks, then that circuit can never complete. The panel switch can do nothing because it relies upon the jack contacts to be there, and they are not.

it was the jack socket. bad connections inside a clean up and retension the connections all ok
