Hello all, I'm working on a Peavey 5150 II.
The problem is intermittent, and affects the clean, crunch, and lead channels. Post volume 1-3 is okay, anything over that is blatty, cuts out, almost synth like output.
I have already:
Replaced the effects loop send and return jacks
Cleaned up a lot of bad solder joints, quite a few on the relays on the main board.
Replaced a few coupling caps on the preamp board, and tested the rest.
Voltage readings are in spec.
Cleaned jacks
Input into the effects return sounds fine, no problems at all. So Somewhere in the preamp is my problem.
With the signal generator on, my scope shows the output positive side of waveform is okay, negative side has a "smear". Almost like oscillation on the negative half?
Any ideas of where to look? It's starting to drive me crazy. Thanks in advance.
