Ancient Stewart - no PT amp---what to do

I'll have to post some pix of this old Stewart amp.
Anyone ever hear of them?
2x8", 2 6v6, 2- rectifiers, needs work but sounds great!

But no power trans death trap!
Think it would be safe with an isolation trans or have customer sign a waiver excluding me from responsibility?

I would definitely discuss this with your customer. Make him aware of the situation. Give him an estimate regarding the additional cost of making the amp safe. Stress the importance of making it safe and go from there. IMO, it's a small price to pay vs. electrocution. That is how I approach these sorts of things including even the death cap/ungrounded power cord situation. I've never had a customer not agree to pay up when you point out the safety hazard, but better to discuss first than just spring a big bill on them.

Just my opinion...

I would tell him it needs an isolation transformer. I would tell him I wouldn't do the job unless it included one. I would tell him I wouldn;t do work that could potentially kill someone.


His signing a waiver will not keep you out of court.

Yeah, it's the smart thing to do.
It's not that I need the work, I actually like helping people but sometimes you gotta say no.

I've declined these type of amps before, like the Silvertone Amp in case....heck I even have one that works perfectly I won't use.
