  • Peavey Session 400 Power Board Layout

I have a customers Session 400 that blew a fuze, which he then wrapped with foil.
Needless to say he let smoke out! Fried 6 resistors and a couple caps.
But anyway, I have a layout diagram for the power board, but it's NOT the correct one.
It shows 4 resistors and a cap just above the two 1 ohm-10watt resistors that feed the output transistors (Looking from the rear of the chassis). My board has what looks like 6 resistors and a cap.
Does anyone have the proper layout diagram?
The PCB has a date of 8/77 and says "400 Session PA".

    Can you post your schematic?

All I have is the LTD/ Session 400 schematic.
    No layout.

Mine are the standard LTD-Session 400 schematics.

        Call Peavey.
Give them the PCB date code.
First thing in the morning seems to be best.

Called support this morning, Michael was great help and emailed me the info in minutes!
          THANK YOU!
Apparently Peavey does not have a power board layout diagram.
So as soon as I finish my repairs I will update the layout diagram I posted.
Just in case someone else needs it.

            Power Board Diagram Update

My customer decided not to spend the money ($50 for components and a speaker plus labor). Found 3 toasted output transistors, I believe one or two of the driver transistors (EP430/EP431) are shorted, a blown capacitor from the 1k-5 watt resistors, and the speaker voice coil is fried. And 1 trace melted off the board, from the 6 components I replaced going to the 3d from the right output transistor.
I think that maybe the VC shorted, made it blow the fuse. When he put foil on the fuse it toasted the power board.
So if your amp blows the fuse, unhook your speaker, replace the fuse and see if it blows again.
After I got the 6 resistors and 2.2uF cap on the board I pulled the 6 output transistors and plugged it in.
It didn't blow the fuse, but it did blow one of the 22ohm resistors feeding the EP430 and EP431 transistors.
I've updated the power board layout diagram to reflect the 6 resistors and capacitor that fried in my pic, instead of 4.
Looks like they changed the traces on the board, because mine is slightly different.
hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
