If you are (or know of!) a competent amp tech that will work on Thomas Vox amps, would you please post here or contact me by PM?
OK, everyone here that reads my posts knows I'm a nut about Thomas Vox amplifiers. My lunacy has led me to analyze, speculate on and reverse engineer the whole line over the years, and post stuff on how to repair them. I get a lot of email asking me to repair Thomas Vox amps, which I try to do when I can, but my life is simply not allowing me to do this at the moment.
I hate to see these amps junked for lack of cap jobs or other minor repair just because they're bi$@&es to work on, but I can't fix them all, and at the moment I can't fix any of them.
The frenzy of the moment is a Royal Guardsman that was disassembled by the owner's now-deceased (... I think... ) brother-in-law/cousin/toommate and has not worked since. It needs a cap job and testing, then reassembly. If you're capable and might be willing to look at it, please contact me.
On the larger scale of things, if you're a competent tech and are more generically willing to do repairs on Thomas Vox, also please contact me. I get emails like this regularly, and I'd like to be able to refer the owners to someone better than pot luck. I know
Thomas Vox amps backwards and forwards, and I'm glad to provide email and telephone support.
